Let's Try Something New

So last night I was grading papers and was noticing one common trend -- the F.
I hate that letter, I want to throw it away and never see it again, but last night, it was staring me in the face with every quiz I graded. Really, I've never seen that many F's.

My resolution -- BINGO, well actually CELLS, to be exact. The kids today got to play Vocabulary BINGO since they couldn't seem to grasp the information on the quiz. It worked well, kids were interested and therefore, quiet and engaged. They wanted to win, they worked for it, and they were actually learning something.
It was a nice change of pace and it was AWESOME!!

It's amazing when you can see the changes in students after you do something different. I love how a little game of Vocabulary BINGO can rock their world.
I know this is what I want, I love these students. I just want to know they are actually learning something and taking something, anything from science.

Am I weird that this has become my passion???
I hope not.

I'm looking forward to this weekend. Myrtle Beach with friends, education stuff, some time away. I need this, I feel drained.

The Infamous Fruit Cobbler

The New York Trip to Surprise Mama on Good Morning America. Nothing beats Sister's Night Out in NYC, meeting Emeril, being on National Television to surprise my mother, and actually keeping a huge secret from my Mama (that's a huge achievement!!).

I really do love this picture. Nothing like three sisters in New York for one night. I'll never forget it!!!! Posted by Picasa

Learning

I'm new to this work with me here...
Things will change, I have to experiment when I find a new "toy" to play with.

Life is crazy this week for me. I'll annotate it...testing all week for the kids so nothing is normal about the school day which means wild childs, class on Thursday so only a half day with the kids, and SCMSA in Myrtle Beach this weekend where I'm presenting at the state-wide conference. Right now, my brain is a little overloaded.

I'm reaching the point in the semester where it's non-stop. Every week I have something to do. I love every minute of it, because I'm starting my career. But I hate to have to take off so much time from work because it makes me stress over money.

But hey, I guess that's what happens when you're growing up.

Man becomes man only by his intelligence, but he is man only by his heart.
